Bio/Description

Dr. Peter Manseau is the Lilly Endowment Curator of American Religion at the National Museum of American History and Director of the Center for the Understanding of Religion in American History at the Smithsonian Institution. He is the author of ten books including the memoir Vows, the novel Songs for the Butcher’s Daughter, the travelogue Rag and Bone, the retelling of America's diverse spiritual formation One Nation Under Gods, and most recently the textual history, The Jefferson Bible: A Biography. He writes often on religion, history, and literature for national publications including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Atlantic and the Washington Post.
