Bio/Description

The Rev. Dr. Leslie D. Callahan is Senior Pastor at Saint Paul Baptist Church in Philadelphia. She is a scholar of religious history in the United States, particularly independent African American Christianity and Pentecostal studies. She received degrees from Harvard University (B.A.),
Union Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Princeton University (Ph.D.). She has served on the faculty of New York Theological Seminary as assistant professor of modern church history and African American studies and on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania as assistant professor of religious studies. Ordained in 1997, the Rev. Dr. Callahan is an activist as well as a pastor. She currently serves as a Commissioner for the Philadelphia Housing Authority and is an active member of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
