Black Religion in the Americas Seminar

The Crossroads Project’s Black Religion in the Americas Seminar explores topics in religions and cultures broadly and from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, including anthropology, biography, cultural studies, history, visual and material culture, music, religious thought, and urban studies. The seminar emphasizes understanding religion in history and society rather than theological approaches.

Papers are pre-circulated, and presenters make a 10 to 15 minute presentation followed by a discussion with attendees. The seminar will meet up to four times during the year on selected Fridays (tbd) from 2:00-3:30PM EST on Zoom.

To apply, please submit a one-page proposal and brief CV to [email protected]. We are especially interested in featuring the work of independent scholars and contingent faculty, but all scholars and advanced graduate students are invited to apply.
